You heard me, I got stood up by the freaking gas company! I was renting a house near my college campus this past year, and I was the lucky one to get the gas utility in my name. Now granted, I moved out of there and in with my living-in-sin partner back in January, so really I’ve been paying them for something I haven’t used in months. Well, school is out and my roommates are officially moved out, so I made the call to have the gas turned off. Now generally they just let themselves into the basement of the house to read the meter and whatever else they do, but I guess for a “final” reading they need someone there. Okay, whatever. So The only two slots they have available are 7:30AM-12:30PM and 12:30PM-4:30PM. Well I work my first job generally around 10-10:30am and my office job I constantly rant about at 4. Luckily for me my boss at the cool job is equally cool and let me slide this morning.

So when the clock hits 6:30 this morning I literally roll out of bed and onto the floor. Ouch. I get dressed in the dark and drive 20 minutes to the college town. I sit in my car outside the house (because it’s empty anyway, at least I have radio in the car) and I sit..and I sit..until 11:30 and still no word. I call the gas company and got a really nice rep on the phone who informed me that my slot has been pushed back to the 12-4 slot due to an emergency. Okay. You can’t really argue with a gas emergency, but it would have been nice if they called. By this time Justin had arrived, the rep told me that the guy would call 15 min before he got there to give me a heads up so we run around town doing some errands. Well 3 comes around and he has to be at work at 3:30, and myself at 4. So we start heading back home and by the time 4 hits…still no call. Actually it’s currently 7:32 and still no call! Honestly. I’m a little miffed now. I understand you get backed up, whatever, but at least give a courtasy call! Maybe a call to reschedule? I’m wondering if this is some scheme to get as much money out of me as possible as I’m canceling…which really doesn’t make sense because the people moving in after us are starting service as soon as I’m out of the picture.

I cannot believe I got stood up by the freaking gas company.
