Heh. Why is the rum always gone?

Anyway, enough Pirates of the Caribbean references. Tara, Lori and I went to do more bridesmaid dress shopping yesterday. Tara bought This one, which looks stunning on her. Lori, my Matron of Honor, chose This one, which suites her really well, it’s a little longer than the other ones and has a bit more design on the bottom, kind of setting her apart since she’s the MOH. Bree ordered hers a few weeks ago, this one, and it’s in already. So now I just need Kendra and Brittany ordered and I’ll be done with the dresses..hopefully. I still need to figure out what the flower girl is going to wear. I found some amazingly cute things at David’s Bridal that I’ll probably actually make myself, most of their dresses are very nicely priced, but their accessories are a bit much.

There are so many little details to a wedding. stuff that when you think about it you have to immediately jot it down somewhere or you’ll forget about it until it’s too late. haha. I’m looking at some music suggestions now. There are a few we’ve decided on, so here we go!

  • My best Friend – Tim McGraw. Our First Dance.
    I don’t know where I’d be
    Without you here with me
Life with you makes perfect sense
    You’re my best friend
  • After All These Years – Journey. Married Couples Song.
    A faded wedding photograph
You and me in our first dance
    Our eyes are closed
We’re lost in one sweet embrace
Since those days our world has changed
    Our love remains the same
God knows we’ve had our share of saving grace
  • I’ve Had the Time of My Life – Dirty Dancing. Bridal Party Dance.
I’ve had the time of my life
No I never felt this way before
Yes I swear it’s the truth
And I owe it all to you
  • Little Miss Magic – Jimmy Buffet Father/Daughter Dance
I see a little more of me everyday
I catch a little more moustache turning grey
Your mother is the only other woman for me
Little Miss Magic what you gonna be?
  • There are a couple ideas I have here and there for other songs (Adam Sandler!) haha. But you get the general idea. There’s still so much shopping to do! That’s what has me very excited. I can’t wait to go on a massive shopping spree in Pat Catan’s.

What? I like to shop! This is going to be the biggest party of our lives and I can’t wait!

Stole the title from twilight. Sorry, still a little obsessed. I actually wanted to share a tiny bit of what I’ve been working on lately, my book. Or books, I haven’t decided yet if the story I’m going to tell will be long enough to require more than one book. Anyway, here’s the preface in first person point of view of the main character, Charlotte:

Somewhere in the world is someone for everyone. I have to believe that now, although I did not know that could possibly include somewhere in all the ages, or that I had to go actively looking for mine. I was content with where my black and white life was heading, I never thought there was another path for me. All that changed in an Alice in Wonderland moment, and I have a feeling I will not go back to where my path started.

It’s still rough, but I currently have two chapters done along with a lot of pieces I’ll stick in sooner or later. It’s hard to say where exactly it’s going. I’m working diligently on an outline, that’s one of my biggest writing flaws; I don’t plan where the story will go, I just assume I’ll know when I arrive there. It doesn’t always work so well.

I have a very hard time describing the story. Partially because I don’t quite know what elements I want to include or where I want the story to go. I know where I want it to end, but the journey along the way is the problem for me.

I do have very high hopes for 2009. We’re getting married in August, which is still striking me as surreal. I had all my bridesmaids over yesterday for drinks and meeting each other and whatnot. Three of the bridesmaids I have have been my friends since we were all very young. Tara, Bree, and Kendra I met before my age hit double digits, and of course Lori, my matron of honor and soon-to-be sister in law, who really was on my side and rooting for us to get together, and Brittany, my newest friend who has become close to both Justin and myself along with her fiance. Life is good, really.

Another hope I have to to get myself a book contract. I’ve done some widespread research on it, and I think I’m in for an uphill battle. This is seriously my dream though, I would love to just be a full time writer. Maybe one day!

I’m in the process of flexing my (not so strong anymore) HTML muscles. I’m really just making an online website for the wedding, nothing fancy, but more to keep myself organized. I might even password protect some of it. haha. Although I do have to say, when I first really got interested in website coding and design (and it feels like a million years ago, why do I feel old?) about 7 years ago, so much has changed on the internet since then! I mean, HTML in its basic form has not changed, I can still use tags and use the link codes I’ve been using forever on here, but it’s the different browsers now that kill me! So yeah…it will just be linked at the top under “wedding randoms” so you can see what I’ve been up to 🙂 After Christmas you’ll start to see a big increase in pictures as I go out and actually buy stuff. I have the different bridesmaid dresses linked now. I have 5 bridesmaid’s altogether, and with different body times and heights, not to mention personal preference, I thought it might work out better to pick out a bunch I liked, then let everyone pick one that they’re most comfortable with. Check it out 🙂

I’m really excited about my writing adventure. I’m halfway into chapter 2, as well as some odd scenes here and there that struck me. Who knows where it goes. I’m not exactly a fan of rejection, and I’m pretty sure that if you set your sights on being a writer you’re basically a masochist, but hell. I want to do it. Maybe I’ll be the next Hemmingway…only I’ll be the wino version.
